OHIP-Funded Stress & Burnout Management

The secret of stress is not to avoid it, but to know how to manage it, and to recognize that a certain amount of stress is a normal part of life.

-Dr. Hans Selye

Stress is your body and mind’s automatic response to any perceived challenge or threat. Stress is not all bad; in fact, we need our stress response.  Good stress can help us avoid danger and perform under pressure.  However, when we are not able to release and recover from stress, we may experience states of chronic stress.  Chronic stress can affect our physical and mental health as well as leaving us feeling burned out.

Research shows that yoga-based techniques can help us relieve stress, regulate the nervous system, reduce inflammation, balance hormones, improve sleep, and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.

In Stress & Burnout Management, we will review and practice gentle restorative yoga, including breathing techniques, mindfulness and compassion-based meditations, to help us release stress and rest, and regulate our nervous system. We will also apply the psychology of yoga to help us reset patterns that no longer serve us, reconnect with our values and sense of purpose, so we can feel like ourselves again!
