OHIP-Funded Self-Compassion Counselling

Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love.

-Brene Brown

Self-Compassion counselling is based on an evidence-based 9-week course designed to help us practice being kind to ourselves. Co-developed by Dr. Kristin Neff and Dr. Christopher Germer, it teaches people how to respond to difficult moments and personal shortcomings with care rather than harsh self-criticism.

Research has shown that the self-compassion counselling greatly enhances mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. It boosts happiness, reduces anxiety and depression, decreases burnout, physical pain, and much more.

You will learn:

  • how to stop being so hard on yourself
  • how to handle difficult emotions with greater ease
  • how to motivate yourself with encouragement rather than criticism
  • how to transform difficult relationships, both old and new
  • theory and research behind self-compassion
  • how to become your own best teacher
